SHOUT

Here I leave you the song Happy by  Pharrell Williams with the images of Despicable me

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           ACTIVITY

In this activity, after teaching our children vocabulary related to emotions or feelings, a good idea to put it into practice will be to sing the song " If you are Happy and you Know it"
With this we will allow children to learn better the concepts by singing and doing physical activity.
Here is the song

Apar from this, another activity we can do with our pupils is doing a fill the gap activity. we can Give 5 years old students a piece of paper with the lyrics and some spaces with pictures showing emotions so that they will have to writte in capital letters the word related to each picture.
By doing this we practice the listening and the writing skills

EXAMPLE

f you're_________________________  and you know it, clap your hands (clap clap)
If you're___________________________ and you know it, clap your hands (clap clap)
If you're ___________________________ and you know it, then your face will surely show it

If you're  ___________________________    and you know it, clap your hands. (clap clap)

If you're happy and you know it, stomp your ________________ (stomp stomp)
If you're happy and you know it, stomp _______________    (stomp stomp)

If you're happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it
If you're happy and you know it, stomp your _____________. (stomp stomp)

If you're happy and you know it, __________________"Hurray!" (hoo-ray!)
If you're happy and you know i__________________"Hurray!" (hoo-ray!)
If you're happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it
If you're happy and you know it,  "________________" (hoo-ray!)

If you're happy and you know it, do all three (clap, stomp, hoo-ray!)
If you're happy and you know it, do all three (clap, stomp, hoo-ray!)
If you're happy and you know it, then your face will surely show it
If you're happy and you know it, do all three. (clap, stomp, hoo-ray!)

To finish with, another activity will consist on giving each students some pictures so that they will have to match the opposite meanings.

  1. Congratulations on this activity. I think it´s very interesting for Pre-school children to learn vocabulary, work emotions and practice and experience with the song, As we can see, you've introduced the method TPR, very important for Pre-school children to learn through direct experience via the five senses. Thank you!!!

  2. Hi!

I really liked how you worked the emotions in this activity. Definitely need to work the emotions in the classroom, and of course, also in English. It is very original and funny. Congratulations!

    A greeting,

    Olga Moyano.
